Delhi Identifies 1,148 Acres for Greenfield Industrial Development
Delhi is preparing to expand its industrial base by opening up more land for new-age businesses and investment. The Delhi government has identified around 1,148 acres for greenfield industrial development across different parts of the capital, with a focus on industries that can create jobs while having a lower impact on the environment.
The plans were discussed during a meeting between Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, industry representatives and real estate stakeholders. The identified land includes around 920 acres in Kanjhawala, 147 acres in Ranikhera and 81 acres in Baprola.
The government is looking to use these areas to create space for technology-driven and knowledge-based industries. The proposed development is expected to support businesses in sectors that require modern infrastructure and skilled workers, while also creating new opportunities for investment in Delhi’s industrial and commercial real estate market.
Another project being considered is the redevelopment of the eight-acre Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex. The government is exploring the possibility of turning the existing complex into modern industrial and commercial spaces, giving the area a more updated role in Delhi’s changing business landscape.
These plans form part of the proposed New Industrial Policy 2026-36, which aims to make Delhi more attractive to businesses and investors. The policy is expected to focus on investment, innovation, employment generation and improving the ease of doing business.
The government is also working on a new Startup Policy, the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill 2026 and an Export Promotion Policy. Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and other knowledge-based businesses are also being considered as potential areas of growth.
Delhi’s existing connectivity and access to a large skilled workforce could support these plans. With metro networks, airport connectivity and a strong services sector already established, the city is looking to build on these advantages while creating new industrial and commercial opportunities.
