First-time buyers in England face different property prices depending on where they want to live. A flat in one area may cost far less than a house in another. New-build homes across England come at different price points, with the properties featured here ranging from £224,995 to £460,000. The options include one-bedroom flats as well as larger houses in different locations.

First-time buyer homes in Kent and Norfolk

At Ebbsfleet Garden City in north-west Kent, buyers can find one-bedroom flats for £224,995. Each flat has 50 square metres of floor space. The wider project is set to bring 15,000 homes to the area. By train, London St Pancras is about 18 minutes away. Bluewater shopping centre is also nearby, around two miles from the site.

In Pott Row, Norfolk, buyers can find a four-bedroom chalet-style house priced at £425,000. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, with another two upstairs. The property also comes with underfloor heating and an air source heat pump. King's Lynn is roughly three miles away.

London apartments have higher asking prices

The London properties in the survey come with higher price tags. At Brent Cross, a studio apartment is listed for £399,000. Residents will have access to shared facilities, including a gym and cinema room. Plans for the wider development include 6,700 homes, 50 retail and dining establishments, and 20 hectares of parkland. Brent Cross West station is expected to offer a journey to central London of around 12 minutes.

In Bromley-by-Bow, one-bedroom apartments overlooking the River Lea are priced at £460,000. The developer is also offering a £20,000 contribution towards stamp duty costs. Further details about the government's Your First Home scheme are expected in the upcoming budget.

Detached homes in Cumbria

Forest Drive in Alston, Cumbria, offers three-bedroom detached houses for £425,000. The development has 13 homes on the edge of the town. Features include double garages, porcelain tiling and underfloor heating.

The properties show the range of homes available to buyers across England. A flat near London and a detached house in a smaller town serve different needs and come with very different asking prices.

These are selected properties, not regional price averages. Buyers will also need to consider deposits, mortgage repayments and other purchase costs when working out what they can afford.
