TARAF and Steppe Capital Announce First JW Marriott Residences in Abu Dhabi
TARAF and Steppe Capital have partnered with Marriott International to develop JW Marriott Residences Abu Dhabi, Yas Island. The agreement brings the JW Marriott residential brand to Abu Dhabi for the first time.
The proposed development will occupy a beachfront site on Yas Island, next to a golf course. TARAF is the real estate division of UAE-based Yas Holding, while Steppe Capital is the other development partner. Marriott International is joining the project through a branding agreement.
The location places the residences close to several of Yas Island’s established attractions, including Yas Marina, Yas Mall and Yas Marina Circuit. Yas Island has beaches, golf courses, waterfront restaurants and entertainment venues. Zayed International Airport is about a 15-minute drive away. Reaching central Abu Dhabi takes around 30 minutes by road.
JW Marriott Residences to feature wellness and leisure facilities
The project’s design will draw on Abu Dhabi’s landscape, natural light, local craft and heritage. Natural materials and contemporary interiors will form part of the design approach, guided by JW Marriott’s principles of Architectural Awe, Serene Spaces, Elements of Nature and Warm Touches.
Planned facilities include a residents’ lounge, fitness centre, steam and sauna facilities, and dedicated spaces for treatments and relaxation. The development will also feature meeting rooms, a golf simulator, a games area, a media room, a children’s activity area and guest suites.
Low Ping, Group CEO of Yas Holding, said the design would reflect JW Marriott’s philosophy. It will focus on natural light and the surrounding environment. The residences will also include spaces for relaxation and socialising.
For Marriott International, the project marks its second collaboration with TARAF. Their earlier partnership delivered W Residences Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island, which has sold out, according to the companies.
Jaidev Menezes, Regional Vice President for Mixed-Use Development in EMEA at Marriott International, said the JW Marriott brand’s approach to hospitality would extend into everyday residential life through services, amenities and opportunities for residents to connect.
Cem Habib, a board member at Steppe Capital, highlighted the combination of the waterfront and golf course as a defining feature of the location.
The partners have announced the development agreement and outlined the design direction and planned amenities. Further details, including the number of residences, pricing and sales launch, have not been confirmed in the available announcement.
