Cecotec Plans Industrialised Housing Factory in Valencia to Produce 6,000 Homes Annually

Spanish home appliance manufacturer Cecotec is entering the residential construction industry with plans to establish a large-scale industrialised housing factory in Almussafes, Valencia. The proposed facility represents a €150 million investment and is expected to create approximately 4,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The company aims to achieve an annual production capacity of up to 6,000 homes, equivalent to approximately 500,000 square metres of construction. The development marks Cecotec's move beyond its established consumer appliance business into industrialised residential construction.

Cecotec's industrialised housing production plans

The proposed factory will be located within the ZND-IN1 sector of Almussafes, an area included in the municipality's revised General Urban Development Plan (PGOU). The planning framework is currently approaching its final approval stage and would provide more than 515,000 square metres of land for the project.

Cecotec intends to operate the facility using Grade 6 industrialisation standards, described as the most advanced level in the sector. Under this production model, approximately 95% of a home will be manufactured, equipped and inspected inside the factory before being assembled at its final site.

The company estimates that this approach could bring average delivery timelines down to around three months. It also expects factory-based production to reduce exposure to construction cost increases caused by inflation.

The facility is intended to serve residential developers, public administrations, investors and other construction industry professionals, both in Spain and internationally.

Investment and employment opportunities in Almussafes

César Orts, the founder and CEO of Cecotec, claimed the company aims to leverage its industrial production expertise into construction. He emphasized the role of industrialization as a way of overcoming the drawbacks of traditional construction methods and attaining better production effectiveness, quality and lead times.

Almussafes was chosen also because of its strong railway and road connections including accessibility to the Port of Valencia and the Mediterranean Corridor.

The project involves collaboration with the Almussafes Local Development Agency which will help with hiring process and inform candidates about job opportunities as well as organize training programs for necessary positions in the company.

Project remains subject to administrative approvals

The agreement between Cecotec and the local authority establishes an initial framework for coordinating the technical and urban planning work. However, the project remains dependent on the completion and approval of the necessary administrative and sector-specific procedures.

Construction and the start of operations are expected to progress in stages over the coming years, subject to the required approvals.

If implemented as planned, the Almussafes facility would add a major industrialised housing production operation to Spain's residential construction sector.
